Statement from U.S. Legend Cars International on the passing of H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler:

We are saddened to learn the passing of one of U.S. Legend Cars International’s founders, H.A. “Humpy” Wheeler.

The impact of Wheeler and the late O. Bruton Smith’s idea to create a new, more accessible race car to a wider range of drivers is felt at tracks across not only North America, but all over the globe. The Legend Car and Bandolero stories will forever be connected to Wheeler and the vision to strengthen grassroots racing.

Everyone at U.S. Legend Cars and INEX Racing Series extend our deepest condolences to the Wheeler family during this difficult time.

Information regarding funeral arrangements will be released at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Wheeler’s name to the Belmont Abbey College Motorsports Management Program, which Wheeler was instrumental in launching more than 20 years ago to prepare young professionals for business, management and marketing roles across the industry.
