CONCORD, N.C. (July 22, 2014) - During a marathon of racing that stretched late into the night, Daniel Hemric picked up his fifth win this season during Week Seven of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Chandler Smith and Dillon Faggart also picked up victories, among others.

In the Global Rallycross exhibition, Andreas Eriksson took over the Rockstar Energy Drink car of Brian Deegan and demonstrated the immense power of the 600-horsepower, all-wheel drive, turbo-charged Ford Fiesta Global Rallycross car. Eriksson accelerated from 0 to 60 in less than two seconds on the frontstretch, drifting around the quarter-mile track as smoke billowed from the tires, just as they will do at the Red Bull Global Rallycross event this weekend at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Eriksson took the OMSE-powered Ford Fiesta ST around hairpin turns; burning donuts and dodging Jack in the Box race barrels.

Global Rallycross driver Bucky Lasek also competed in the Security Force Legend Car Masters division, running as high as second place, but eventually finishing 12th.

In the 25-lap Legend Car Pro division feature, Hemric, of Kannapolis, N.C., did his traditional backflip in victory lane for the fifth time this year after holding off a hard-charging Kason Plott. After the green flag, Greg Lang jumped out to an early lead. William Byron put down fluid on the frontstretch on lap 10 and several other drivers were caught up in it, to bring out a red flag. Hemric, who had moved into the top-five, was able to get the lead on the restart. The final caution came out for Joey Padgett, who spun going into turn 3. Hemric led a fast and furious Plott to the checkers, followed by Zane Smith, Greg Lang and Jordan Black.

Faggart, of Concord, N.C., took his third win of the season in the Quaker Steak and Lube Semi-Pro division. Jake Tretow led the start of the race, but Devin O'Connell came in hot and quickly stole the lead going into lap 2. A caution would take effect immediately after, bringing the field together again. Upon the restart O'Connell and Faggart battled hard for the lead, with Faggart ultimately moving to the top spot for the remainder of the race. After a caution on lap 14, John Holleman and Craig Biryla would make their way into the top five and also remain there until the end of the race. O'Connell would take second, Holleman finished third, Biryla took fourth and Tretow ended in fifth.

Smith remained undefeated in the LiveWell Homes Bandolero Bandits division, tallying his seventh and eighth wins of the season. Smith, a Jasper, Ga., native, is currently the only Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series driver to win every race so far this season. In the second feature race of the night, Smith, who started in seventh, quickly maneuvered his way to the race lead in only three laps and never looked back. Smith avoided six caution flags on the night and pulled away in the final laps, winning by a 2.067 second advantage.

Race runner-up Conner Younginer recorded his highest finish of the season. Eddie Fatscher tallied his third podium finish of the season with a third place finish, while Liz Montgomery recorded her highest finish of the season with fourth place. Rounding out the top-five was Daniel Wilk, who maintained his third place position in the overall points standings.

Other winners included Scott Whitaker, of Rock Hill, S.C., in the Security Force Masters division; Matt Thomas, of North Miami, Fla., in the Legend Car Young Lions division; Carson Kvapil, of Mooresville, N.C., in the Bandolero Beginner Bandits; and Jensen Jorgensen, of Stockbridge, Ga., in the Bandolero Outlaws.

In the Bandolero makeup features from last week Kvapil took the checkers in Beginner Bandits, Smith won the Bandolero Bandits and Austin Powell won the Bandolero Outlaws makeup feature.
