Bourgoine wins his sixth straight victory of the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour
Monday, June 2, 2014
Epping, NH - The Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour returned to the tight ¼ mile bullring of Star Speedway this past weekend for their eighth race of the 2014 season. The defending champion, Matt Bourgoine continued his early season dominance, as he picked up his sixth win of the season Saturday night. The early dominance is something the Tour has never seen before; especially with as competitive of a field Bourgoine has around him.
The race was an eventful one, as early on Bourgoine and young Wyatt Alexander in the 96 hurried through the field from their mid pack starting positions. The first caution of the night came early as the 2x of Curt Snow going for a spin off turn four with the leaders right behind him. Luckily it was a harmless spin and Snow continued on. After Bourgoine and Alexander fought for the lead at the front, the second caution came out as the 60 of Anthony Pagliarulo had his bumper fall off and end up in an incident with the 8 of Matt Chagnot, ending Pagliarulo's day early. The final caution of the event came towards the end when the 2 of rookie Darren Johnson went for a solo spin.
This set up a final restart and a battle between Bourgoine and Alexander. The two dueled hard for the win, but it was all Bourgoine at the finish as he took his sixth straight victory! Alexander finished runner up for the third time this season, while Bob Weymouth in the 399 rounded out the podium. Tylar Braunschweig and Alan Smith rounded out the top five. The heat winners earlier in the day went to Braunschweig and Alexander.
The next time the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour will be back in action is on Thursday, June 12th for the first race of the popular and highly competitive Thursday Thunder at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Each race always attracts a huge crowd and a great car count to go with it. You won't want to miss this ten race series, each race starting at 7:00PM and the events wrapping up at 9:00PM.
