CONCORD, N.C. (June 13, 2014) - Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series fans are in for an extra treat this Tuesday as mascots from all over the area will compete against Lug Nut in the annual Mascot Mania go-kart race. Lug Nut, the world's fastest mascot, will try to defend his turf against all comers in a real-life game of Mario Kart.

In addition to a full slate of Legend Car and Bandolero racing, Mascot Mania will pit the mascots against each other as they compete on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval in equally prepared go-karts. Competitors will each be given a dodgeball at the start of the race. If they throw the ball at another mascot and it hits them, the mascot that was hit has to move to the back of the field.

Mascots competing include Charlotte Motor Speedway's Lug Nut; Chubby, of the Charlotte Checkers; Norm the Niner, of UNC Charlotte; Tim E. Gator, of the Kannapolis Intimidators; the Wildcat from Davidson College; Monkey Joe of Monkey Joe's; Bucky the Pirate from East Tennessee State University; and Blue the Hound, of the Charlotte Hounds.

Tuesday is also Team Spirit Night at the speedway. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite Charlotte-area team's apparel.

Young fans can also participate in a free craft item each week in the Kids' Zone. On June 17, they can create sports pennants and photo frames.
