The Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Michigan Legends Series Presented by Z-Max paid a visit to the Grand Bend Speedway in Grand Bend, Ontario Canada on June 5, 2010 and Levi Rouster also paid a visit to Victory Lane by claiming the top spot in the 30 lap feature race. The series always puts on a barn burner of a show for our friends from Canada on the immaculate and billiard table smooth ¼ mile D-Oval that adjoins the world renowned ¼ mile Dragstrip and tonight would be no different.
The first order of business was two caution free heat races. Heat race number one went to longtime driver Ben Rouster over Gary Joppich, Rick Kassube, and Trenton Besgrove. Heat race number two went to that wily veteran Levi Rouster over point’s leader Tony Monge, Matt Barton, and Guy Fire.
The 30 lap feature race came down to a battle between the trio of Levi Rouster, Tony Monge, and Ben Rouster. Without any caution laps to slow the field, the brothers Rouster and young Tony Monge staged a clinic on how to drive the tricky D-oval of Grand Bend Speedway. Lap after lap the three would thread the needle and race each other hard but clean for the top spot but in the end, Levi Rouster found himself in the top spot with Monge breathing down his neck as well Brother Ben Rouster. Canadian driver, Matt Barton brought it home in the fourth spot while the talented Gary Joppich rounded out the top five. Rick Kassube, Guy Fire, and Trenton Besgrove completed the rundown.
While Rouster has always been a top runner in the series with many wins as well as being a two time series champion winning the title in 2005 and 2007 as well as winning the pro division championship many times, this victory ended a two year drought from feature wins. Rouster has multiple heat wins these past couple of years as well as three top five finishes in 2010 but the feature wins have been elusive until tonight.
At present, Rouster is second in points behind Monge so the championship race is heating up to see if Monge can get his first series title or if Rouster can be the first and only three time championship in series history.
