Matt Todd Goes Two for Two in Auto City Legends

Matt Todd definitely has the Auto City Speedway figured out for 2010 as grabbed his second feature win in a row at the Clio, Michigan Speed plant this past Saturday night June 19th as the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Michigan Legends Series Presented by Z-Max celebrated Edgewraps night for the series. Edgewraps is one of the series sponsors and also a leading supplier of vehicle wraps and graphics in the automotive and racing industry.

While Todd showed everyone the short way around the ¼ mile oval in the feature race, heat races were the first order of the day with the first heat race going to The hard charging Sean McPherson over points leader Tony Monge and “Red Hot” Matt Todd. Rookie sensation Loren Short would take the second heat over veteran driver Ben Rouster and former 2 time series champion John Turnbull Jr. making an appearance with the series.  The “Red Rocket” Tyler Rycenga nailed the third heat by finishing ahead of another 2 time series champion Levi Rouster and the always fast Guy Fire.

Levi Rouster would grab the lead at the start of the 30 lap feature race over Brother Ben Rouster and would be able to hold on through a quick caution on lap 3 and after the restart up until lap 11 when Matt Todd was able to work his way up to Levi and wrestle the lead away from him. Todd would then pull away from the pack and lead to the finish while facing a challenge from Rycenga all the way to the checkers. While Todd and Rycenga put on a show at the front there was great racing through the pack for the entire 30 laps with Levi Rouster coming home in the third spot followed by Tony Monge, and Sean McPherson to complete the top five. Ben Rouster, John Turnbull Jr., Adam Van Cleave, Loren Short, and Rick Kilbourn would take positions 6-10.

Next up for the Legends Cars is a double header weekend with the second and final stop of the season at the Dixie Motor Speedway on Friday night June 25th and a return to the Springport Motor Speedway on Sunday June 27th.  Matt Todd took the feature win back in May when the series was at Dixie and this will be an opportunity to see if he can repeat the feat this week. Sunday’s stop at Springport marks a return of the series to the beautiful speedway located close to Jackson, Michigan as the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Michigan Legends Series Presented by Z-Max has been away from Springport for the past few seasons. The wide and smooth Springport 3/8 mile high banks have always provided an excellent venue for these powerful little cars and the drivers look forward to returning to the track.

So come on out to one or both of the shows this weekend and check out the official website of the Michigan Legends Series www.michiganlegends.com and “We’ll See You at the Races”.
