RAIN DELAYS THE START OF WINTER NATIONALS

ORLANDO, FL - The Winter Nationals at Orlando Speedworld got off to a soggy start, as rain moved through the area and forced the postponement of much of the day's schedule. Track officials waited out the first passing shower and managed to get qualifying back underway, but persistent rain followed and brought the first day's events to a halt.

The Young Lions competitors were in the process of running the first of two scheduled European-style qualifying rounds when the call was made to push the rest of the day's schedule back.

Wednesday's schedule will feature double features for all of the classes, and the Young Lions drivers will be given a full qualifying session.

The first of two scheduled qualifying rounds had already taken place for the rest of the classes. The fastest cars in the first round of qualifying were: R.S. Senter (Semi-Pro, 16.017), Nick Pistone (Pro, 15.606), and Clay Hair (Masters, 15.791).

The fastest in the first round of Bandolero qualifying were: Macy Causey (Beginner Bandits, 18.168), Clayton Weatherman (Bandits, 17.653), and Ryan Shattack (Young Gun Outlaws, 17.861).

Qualifying will resume where it left off at 10:15 Wednesday morning, and double features are slated to make up for Tuesday's rained-out events.
