STANLEY, NC - East Lincoln Speedway is set to host one of the largest racing weekends of the season this Friday and Saturday October 16-17 as they play host to the 11th Annual Legends Dirt Nationals.
Over 100 drivers from all over the country are scheduled to be on hand at the Lincoln County oval to decide who will be crowned the king of Legends car racing for 2009.
"We are honored to be a part of this event," said East Lincoln Speedway Promoter Clint Elkins. "600 Racing has a strong tradition and to have East Lincoln Speedway selected to host the event is truly a feather in our cap."
Race teams from as far as New Mexico and Wisconsin are expected and with a strong contingent of local drivers it will truly be a all-star type event.
"The opportunity to host the Dirt Nationals here in INEX's back yard is very exciting," said Legends Executive Director Darrell Krentz. " Every Legends car racing today was manufactured right here in Harrisburg so it is nice to have these cars back home!"
"Ray Evernham, Bob Mack and Clint Elkins have really done a great job here at East Lincoln making all racers feel at home, especially the Legends racers," added Krentz. " We are all looking forward to watching the out of state invaders racing against the great local dirt drivers here at East Lincoln."
"The Legends cars are a "spec" racer meaning they are all basically the same. The cars should be able to compete in a pack, passing on the outside as well as the inside. There will be some very experienced Legends dirt racers coming to this great North Carolina dirt track. Their car control is fantastic with two and three wide racing going on all weekend long," said Krentz.
