This past Saturday, current Bethel Legends points leader Mike Alcaro found himself in Victory Lane at the speedway for the ninth time in the 2009 season. Alcaro bested a field that contained several visiting teams, including former three-time track champion Paul Dodorico.

Alcaro started the race from the fifth starting spot, but he wasted little time cutting through the field, overtaking Young Lions competitor Chris Young for the lead on lap five. Dodorico chased Alcaro through the field, coming from seventh to second just past the halfway point of the event, but Alcaro had already built a sizeable lead. The gap was closed by a caution just two laps later, but Alcaro was able to get a good jump on the restart. Dodorico waited in the wings for an opportunity to get past Alcaro, but Alcaro cruised to victory. Dodorico collected a runner-up finish, while Young held on for third. JD Abrahams and Joe DeGracia rounded out the top five.

"We've had a great season," Alcaro commented after the race. "I think we put on a good show for the fans. I have to thank my dad, my sponsors, and my team for making this possible."

In Bandolero action, Andrew Bickford captured his third win of 2009. Bickford started on the outside pole, and quickly got out in front of polesitter AJ Hamilton. He would have to contend with Hamilton again on a lap six restart. While Hamilton applied considerable pressure, Bickford was able to get out front following a side-by-side battle for the top spot. Hamilton finished second, and Mikey Policastro was third.

Bethel Motor Speedway's season will wind down in the coming weeks. Legends and Bandoleros are on the schedule this coming Saturday, Septembner 26th. Both classes are also part of the schedule for both days of the "Bethel Motor Madness" weekend October 3rd and 4th.
