HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 19) -- Cameron Patrick took the lead for good on lap 20 and held on for his first victory of the season in the 25-lap Casey Cycle City INEX Legends feature, part of Saturday evening's McDonald's Night program at Langley Speedway.
Patrick started on the pole, at 77.675 mph, and set the pace for the first 18 laps. Rette Causey emerged from the opening shuffle in second and held down the runner-up spot until lap 10 when he gave way to Spencer Saunders and Jamie Price. Steve Keesee, who started on the outside of Row 1, bypassed Causey on lap 11, dropping him to fifth.
On lap 13, Keesee, the division points leader, swiped third place from Price and began to close on Patrick and Saunders, who were separated by only a car-length.
On lap 19, Saunders pushed his machine to the front, slipping by Patrick off Turn 4. A lap later, though, Patrick returned the favor, nosing back ahead at the stripe. He cleared Saunders on lap 21 and left the inside lane open for Keesee, who moved up to second.
At the end of the caution-free race, Patrick was the winner by 0.229-second - less than two lengths - over Keesee. Saunders was third, followed by Price and Causey.
